Ingredients:
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef (or turkey)
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 bell pepper, chopped (any color)
- 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 2 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional toppings: shredded cheese, sour cream, chopped cilantro, diced avocado, Diced Jalapenos
Instructions:
- Cook the Meat: In a large pot over medium heat, brown the ground beef. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Add Vegetables: Add the chopped onion, garlic, and bell pepper. Cook for about 5 minutes, until the vegetables are softened.
- Spice it Up: Stir in the chili powder, cumin, and paprika. Cook for another minute to release the flavors.
- Combine Ingredients: Add the kidney beans, black beans, and crushed tomatoes. Stir well to combine.
- Simmer: Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Let it simmer for about 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Season: Taste and add salt and pepper as needed.
- Serve: Ladle the chili into bowls and top with your favorite toppings.
