Thịt Kho Recipe – (Vietnamese Braised Pork with Eggs)


Indulge in the rich flavors of Thit Kho – a delightful Vietnamese braised pork belly dish that captivates the senses. Slow-cooked, caramelized tender pork belly with hard boiled eggs. Pure culinary bliss!

Here’s my THIT KHO recipe:

Ingredients:

1 lb pork belly, cut into 1” chunks
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 shallot, finely chopped
2 tablespoons fish sauce
3 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon brown sugar
2 cups coconut water or Coco Rico soda
Hard-boiled eggs (Optional)

Instructions:

In a pan, sauté garlic and shallot until fragrant.
Add pork belly chunks and brown them on all sides.

Mix fish sauce, soy sauce & brown sugar in a bowl. Pour this mixture over the pork.

Stir well to coat the pork evenly with the sauce.
Pour in coconut water, ensuring the pork is submerged.

Simmer on low heat for 1.5 to 2 hours until the pork is tender. Add hard-boiled eggs if desired when there’s about 20 minutes left.

Serve with steaming hot jasmine rice. 🍚
